Predoctoral researcher (PhD student, R1), four-year grant to work in the Oviedo node

The selected candidate will join the HEP group at University of Oviedo, and the PHINDER project with the goal of designing and optimising surrogate models and spiking neural models to be implemented in neuromorphic hardware manufactured by the consortium and co-designing said hardware. The position is initially for 4 years (starting date 15 June 2026, subject to administrative constraints) until completion of the PhD. The candidate is expected to be based in Oviedo with frequent short stays at other PHINDER partners (Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain) in case they are needed. The gross salary is 1960 euro per month on 12 payments/year, which corresponds to a significantly higher salary than the usual public PhD grants in Spain, plus Oviedo is a cheap town to leave in.
