Neuromorphic computing, machine learning and algorithm–hardware co-design.

Fredrik Sandin is Professor of Machine Learning at Luleå University of Technology and coordinator of PHINDER. His research combines neuromorphic computing, machine learning and computational physics, with a focus on how intelligence can be realised in physical systems under constraints on energy use, response time and sensing capabilities.

He brings experience in interdisciplinary neuromorphic technology projects and the co-design of algorithms and hardware. Within PHINDER, he coordinates the consortium’s work towards photonic sensing with on-chip neuromorphic intelligence.
