Photonic neuromorphic detector co-design, differentiable optimisation and machine learning for particle physics.
Carlo Gulizia is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Physics at the University of Oviedo, within the area of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics. He joined PHINDER in 2026 to pursue a PhD on the co-design of a picosecond-scale photonic heterogeneous integrated neuromorphic detector.
His work connects particle-physics reconstruction with differentiable optimisation and neuromorphic machine learning. Within PHINDER, he contributes to the joint development of computational methods and detector concepts for fast, energy-efficient processing of complex sensor data.
